Sticky seals

I'm just curious if this is happening for other folks. On my liftgate and sunroof, when the weather moves between cold to semi-warm outside, the seals become sticky. My liftgate didn't want to open and when I pulled it, it made a peeling noise from the seals sticking together. Same with the moonroof. When I want to crack it open with the two vents, the motor works and then the glass just "pops" open because the seal was sticky.

Is this common?

Doesn't happen to me. Maybe try putting a light coat of Armorall on them?

Buy gummi pflege... It'll keep the seals supple and not sticky. Detailers domain carries it.

Just picked it up off of Amazon. Thanks!

Great, let us know how it works out

definitely happens with my sunroof when i don't open it for a long time... but not with the tailgate.

Tailgate only happened once, and come to think of it, was when it was under 32 out, so it was probably just some ice keeping it stuck closed.

Happened to my lift gate, both front doors, and the sunroof yesterday. The X5 was sitting at JFK long term parking for about six days, and some major temp fluctuations. I always thought this was "normal" on any vehicle?

Shows that it's a good "seal", but with the tailgate and the sunroof, I get a little worried about the motors burning out since they have to work extra hard.

I use silicone spray on the seals and it works great.
