Rear center jack point
 

Hi all -
I've been doing some searching on where the rear center jack point is on the e70. All findings say it is on the differential pumpkin and it has to be right on the money (dead center) to not cause damage. Does anyone have a picture of where exactly the jack should be positioned?

Personally I have never seen a center jacking point on the rear end.

The manual only shows the 4 points next to the tires

Don't know on the X5, but on most BMWs there is a solid brace just forward of the pumpkin with a flat surface that is good for jacking the rear without jacking directly on the diff which some say shouldn't be done.

There is no problem using the rear diff, as long as you don't contact the diff cover, as detailed above. I have used the diff to lift my X5, but it was an E53. The challenge is that you need a long trolley jack to reach in far enough. Compact trolley jacks don't reach.
