Today i received a mail from BMW on the recall for vacuum pump on X5 years 2007 to 2010.

The repair is not for vacuum pump alone, see the attached picture.

My stealership spoke to me about this recall about two weeks ago. I was told that, in most cases, that they expect to only replace the brake vacuum line. They couldn't do mine as the part was not in stock.

I call my dealer and they clearly mentioned they will follow the recall description.

One if the mechanic also says for example they change the vacuum pump and later there are issues related to the brake line or booster they can point back to the recall.

When it just came out a few months back they have honored such issues, of course its a per scenario situation.

why does the text actually NOT say anything about the 'vacuum pump'?

It was mentioned on the first page, see below.

Anymore info on the 2007-2010 X5s in question? I see "certain" in the second paragraph. Haven't seen a letter yet.

It makes me chuckle, about how we all love BMW and what they stand for, etc (for the most part). Meanwhile, they only issue recalls that are required to preserve their liability and cover their asses. Meanwhile, how many of us have had electrical issues with the battery discharge, etc?

BMW is just like any other brand that makes products. They're in it for the money, and not on our "side."

I agree with you. They are looking at it from a liability stand point. I received my recall letter as well today. I'll try and get it in this week. I probably should call in advance to see if the part is on hand. I'll keep everyone posted.

Of course.

Thinking otherwise is dillusion.
