about to buy a used 2012 x5d, your input ?

Hello guys,

I am about to buy that 2012 X5d
2012 Used BMW X5 X5 xDrive35d at Choice Auto Brokers Serving Fort Lauderdale, FL, IID 10264003

it has all the options under the sun possible, even the style 215 wheels, and got 13k miles on it.

they want $53k for it, and new set of tires will be needed soon.

sticker was $76k without the wheels, I figure the owner paid $69k for it.

Worth it ?

I am hesitating buying a new one for $66k as the 21" rims are not a must have for me. But with the new 2014 x5 around the corner, i figure I am better off with a used one which has already taken the depreciation ?

any input ? I need to make a decision on monday on it and I know they won't bulge on the price ...

Nicely equipped - I esp. like the ADAPTIVE DRIVE. Fairly hard to find and one of the very BEST options.

Agreed - looks like a really nice rig. Why is it for sale after only 13K? Do your homework.

Not a fan of the rims. But that's more personal opinion than anything else.

Was looking at that one too. Very well equipped. I want AD and its very hard to find on a diesel. I say go for it. See if you can get tires with the deal. 21's are $$$
You can always sell the rims.
I found one similar closer to me....has everything I want, but has sand interior. Not a fan....so the search continues.

If you're going to pay that much for a used vehicle, why not just pony up the extra dough and grab a brand new one? One no one else farted in, etc...

I realize budget constraints are budget constraints...but with the new X5 around the corner, as you stated, even buying used (no matter the price) doesn't make much sense (unless you don't like the new one?)

Right, and then everyone will be saying "don;t buy first year", then "wait till LCI"...

This X5 has already taken the hit of the first year depreciation. It will take few more, be at least OP will save $15K or so on an almost new vehicle.

yeah, why take the depreciation when 13k is essentially like new?

My '12 X5d is running great. BMW had a $3500 eco credit and $1000 olympic test drive promo last year, so i would suggest building the car through edmunds, get the invoice price, add $1000 and deduct $4500 for the credits and that's probably what the original owner paid, or at least should have paid ;)

...or lease a current model (new). That "buys" you less monetary outlay for a brand new X5, and also allows a few model years of the new X5 to have worked out the bugs. Once your lease is over, it'll be a couple of years into the new X5.
