Help with tires

I am sure there are many threads on this so I will try to distinguish mine by being specific.

My X5 has around 30,000 miles now and the OEM tires it came with need to be replaced. The truck has Michelin Latitude RFTs, 255/50/19. Ever since I got the truck in 2011 I have had no issues with them. The tread wear at 2 years is ok'ish and I am thinking of going with the same set up.

My question is for those who had this tire from factory, have you changed to something else and is it better? I am looking to replace with RFTs.

I have had the Bridgestones (terrible) Latitudes (OK) and now the Conti 4x4s. All were on new X5s. So far the Conti's are my favorite new, but I have no idea how they will wear or handle in snow.

Very little info available anywhere on the Conti's, but they do feel softer than the others.

Bummer that the Latitudes are so expensive. 30K isn't much life for a good tire.

I switched from stock bridgestone 19's to Michelin Latitudes RFT and like them much more.

Thanks the latitudes are definitely ok. I guess the Bridgestones are out of the question then. Given what you two have said I will either pick the contis or the michelins depending on where I get the better deal. From what I have seen so far there is a spread of about $50 between the two for a set of 4. If by the end of the week I don't see any other good deals out there I may go with the contis, just to try something new

Drove the Contis in snow and ice today for the first time. (Thanks April snow storm!) They were better than I expected. Granted they are still very new, but they did a decent job in terrible conditions for an all reason runflat.

I was going to toss them for some non run flats, but who knows -- might keep them now.

Just replaced the Bridgestone 19" RFT yesterday with Michelin Latitude RFT,
way better overall performance.

Were the Bridgestones new? Or are you comparing worn down tires with brand new ones? :stickpoke

I know, I know... same comment applies, so hard to 'A-B' and compare a new tire handling to what the old tires were like '2 -3 years ago'...

:)

A

PS Like Michs...hate looking like a whore for them!

They were the old set. I know the rule that new tire is always better.:nanana:
The ride is not as harsh as the Bridgestone.

Interesting. This is a valid data point.
