2009 X5 No air conditioning
Turn it electronically down to 60 and push max ac and the temp out of the vents is still pretty warm. Dealer says I need to fix something with the vent settings on the I drive?? We just are coming out of winter here and I needed it the other day and the air is not cold.
Is there something I am missing??? only 60k miles on my X5:wow: |

oh yes, that's why I think the dealer is crazy. Green lights, max air, everything. What could possibly need to be adjusted in I drive?
|
I doubt that this is the problem, but here is an adjustment for the dash vents so you can vary the temperature of what's blowing to your face/body. Easiest way to adjust is by pushing the button with three horizontal lines (below the seat heater buttons on my car) and then using the i-drive knob select and turn the airflows to full blue. If they are set to red you will feel warmer air come out.

I think that is what they were talking about. I will try tonight and repost. I have never understood that vent setting menu in the I-drive. It is too much. I still think max/ac should really mean max/ac on automatic and it should override what is in the I-drive.

What do you mean when you say 'dealer says'? They took the car in with a written complaint, and the response in writing is this idrive comment?
Or are you dealing with them via phone or email? |
I think the vent setting menu fixed it. I was talking to the dealer on the phone. I played around with the vent settings menu in the I-drive. There is red and blue. I still DO NOT understand this menu, however it does blow out cold air now.
I think that A/C or MAX push button should override and just send out cold air no matter what is in the vent settings. Is there an easy explanation for this menu???:iagree: |
My old 2009 X5d had same thing at around 30k mi (give or take). They tried to tell me the same thing (about vent settings). I told them to look again, and sure enough, they found a leak in one of the lines, I think high pressure line. They replaced it and it was fine after that. I don't have paperwork anymore since I don't own the truck anymore. Hope this helps and good luck!
edit: I see it really was your vent settings. Take care! |
