DRL LED Lights in lower Grill
3 Attachment(s)
Just thought I would show a picture of these.
Please be courteous as I am not asking if you like them or not. That way opinions are not given and "cyber" feelings aren't hurt. :) I like them. I know it's Audi/Mercedes/Hamann - ISH.... :) The fit very well and are pretty bright. Build quality on these were pretty good and the LED light box/resistor was very clear in what each wire did. It allows for Auto-DIM when headlights come on. DRL only. 100% brightness all the time. 50% with lights on. Turn Signal Wires as well. I went for the 100% brightness with the FOGs. Coded out any errors already. Attachment 58955 Attachment 58956 Attachment 58957 |
I like them. Especially the clean integration into the panels.
|
Thanks TLS. Little things like this is what happens when one is bored :) Also it pays to know people in the business to get you these things for a great price and to experiment :)
|
very nice! where did you get them? also what do you have in your angel eyes?
|
There are a few similar styles like these out. Some chrome some not. These match the factory silver pretty well. Also the Control Box is better than most from what I have seen. PM me.
The Angel Eyes are H8 25W Cree bulbs. Not a name brand but brightness is just as good IMHO. |

Night shot.. Camera was a point and shoot. Camera seems to be on the purple side :) Not worth editing.. Lights are actually very white with a small small tint of blue if at all.

Nice Audi/Mercedes/Toyota/Honda/Hyundai ! :nanana:
I wouldn't do it personally, but if you like it, I don't think it looks bad. I read your post on xbimmers as well, one grill is opened for the oil cooler. I wouldn't block it |
I'm usually against these LED bars as every manufacturer now does them, but as far as looks it seems to fit the E70 pretty nicely. You tied it into a new switch or does it come on whenever the halos and/or low beams are on?
|
Blue it took you long enough to reply :) different strokes for different folks :)
It's just something to do since I get stuff to try out. Rh71 wired them to fog light switch. With the euro switch I can run both independently. Unless I can get the switch cheap enough I can live with it. I can also hook into the switch and run both. Waiting for some more resistors to try out before install the led fog lights. I understand that Led's are being out in everything but that was inevitable. BMW also sells a led strip for driving lights as well . At least these integrate better. Led or laser lights in the near future. Lexus or Audi first. Maybe Mercedes. Talk about overkill with leds the rear of an s class. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2 |

Now if I can only get the engine partition to come in. How long does it take BMW to replace one? Been backordered for damn near 5 months. |

Another piece of plastic that gets brittle is the parking brake switch, just had to change it out. I don't think the LEDs look bad at all on your car, for me, its just so common on everything else. |
Yeah I know what you mean. This is twice now that partition has cracked. I thought it as me the first time then they said no its been a problem for a while now. They tell me they are switching MFR's. Wouldn't doubt it since the delays are much longer than usual. I ripped mine out as it was sitting on my engine and making noises. I will look out for the other piece that you mentioned.
bluedragon - I have been around the boards to know that most people like to razz others without malicious intent and some people truly deserve that "razzing" for some truly tacky stuff. I usually am nice no matter what about something unless its extreme. Like Chrome Interior Panels then perhaps I couldn't be so nice. :) Yeah the LED's are everywhere it seems anymore. I have modified so many cars that doing something easy is just that "easy" and I don't have to worry about it. It's reversible. If I were to keep the SUV then I might get the CIC retrofit like you have. Looking at the X5M's 2012/2013 but not sure if I really need something like that. Well truth be told no one needs a sub 5 second SUV that can go over 160MPH. |
looks good, me like it!
|
^^ I've decided to keep mine until the 2015 MY F15. Hopefully the bugs are worked out by then. I only did the CIC because I got the parts at a good price. I didn't want to pay 3k + for the CIC plus combox retro, but now I can't imagine going back to the CCC
I guess I'm becoming an old curmudgeon like Ard  |
LOL Blue - If my friends at the Dealership can help me with the codes. I can pick up the CIC with the all the right bits including the new console to house the Idrive for around $1400.00 - it seems the codes are expensive. If they can't no big deal. No question that the new CIC is really light years ahead of the CCC. I use the CIC then go back to the CCC and its like ummm can I throw this out? ;)
I might wait as well if the new look is what I am hoping it would be. I am sure my next will be a X5M or at least a very well modified Twin Turbo 5.0 |

Oh I posted this just for you. I wanted to know what the SUV would look like without FOGS and only the LED. I posted it on the other site but thought I would share my crappy Photoshop work ;)

That looks amazing actually, didn't realize how much the fogs detracted from the look
^Coding the CIC by itself is pretty easy. You just modify your vehicle order in expert mode and it pretty much codes itself. There will be somethings that you need to code manually, things like which input your rear camera is on, or your DVD changer if you have one. If the donor vehicle that your CIC came from had voice, and navigation, then the activation module will allow them to continue working. The combox is a little trickier, and thats where I had to get some help. The combox is awesome though, before I would have my iphone paired via bluetooth, and my blackberry would ring, and I would be scrambling to answer it. Now you can have two phones paired for bluetooth. Bluetooth audio is awesome too, but the best part for me is the CIC switches to the rear camera almost instantly. The CCC is glacial, I can finish parking before it comes on sometimes :laugh1: I would love an X5M, but since we tow often, the hurt in the wallet paying for premium gas would be too much |
I kinda like the look without the fogs. It would be inexpensive for me to remove the fogs and have the fenders repainted. I am not sure what BMW was thinking when they made plastic fenders.
The coding I figured wasn't too complicated. It's more of the Activation of the NAV Codes I heard were expensive. Someone told me if you upgrade to the new software the activation can be turned on that way without the Activation codes? The activation costs are almost as expensive as the hardware it seems. I hear ya on the X5M and towing. Nice boat by the way. I couldn't imagine what it would be on the MPG :) 7-8MPG :) |
Add me to the back order list of the engine bay partition. Dealer broke mine and have had the replacement on order for a month now. Glad to see that they are BS'ing me.
|
Checked on it again and its still out. It's been over 5 months for me I think. My dealer is a month out on Service Recalls at the moment.
|
I like the look of the LEDs. Definitely a unique look for the E70.
On a quick side note- which LEDs are you using for your Angel Eyes? Lux? |
Looks amazing!!!, well done.
|
Can you please share where and how you connected the wiring on the new DRLs?
|
Love the DLRs.
I'm thinking of putting an OEM on my X5M. Too many haters here. Not sure why they think their taste should be everyone's taste. |
WOW
I am in...where did you get them? Ebay? Also, can you talk about the installation?
|
Looks good, any pics of the installation...?
|
I think its a good improvement over stock grille
