226 rear sway bar???
Has anyone discovered if its possible to source the not-for-US 226 rear sway bar for our e70's with normal suspension? I read it was slightly larger and based on other BMW's I've owned, thought it may be a nice handling upgrade without lowering or spending a ton of money.
Thank you in advance! Jeff |
part number is 33556783042
my 2013 m sport came with suspension 226, so you should be to order the part number from getbmwparts.com (i believe 2012 had option 226 as well) |
RealOEM.com * BMW E70 X5 3.5d Stabilizer, rear
Yeah looks like a good easy mod for apox. $200 This might be my first mod to my 35d |
Thanks guys!
Has anyone done it yet? Just curious if any other parts are required. |
You will need:
x2 33556776559 - Stabilizer rubber mounting x2 37106789678 - Hex nut wiht flange x2 33326760374 - Self-locking collar nut (These appear to be lock nuts so you can't reuse them.) You might want to check you balljoints on your links, if they need replacing also buy: x2 33556771937 - Rear swing support (sway bar link) |

Ok. No 3rd row here because we also got the M Performance Package and you can't get the 3rd row with that package because the spare tire is a required order. Weird rules.
We do have the M Sport Package as well, so it looks like the sway bar is already installed. The word 'suspension' isn't mentioned on the window sticker anywhere so I'll have to just look under the car to verify. I'm assuming it'll be the same size as the X5M sway bar if there's one already installed. Thanks blue! |
my dealership provide me with a VIR (vehicle Inquiry Report) when I placed my order it showed the breakdown of the the order place with BMW. And I believe the X5M actually comes with adaptive drive (dynamic sway bars)
Edit: Car_Girl it looks like you have x5 50i, from realoem it looks like 226 is not a option for the 50i but for the 35i(what I have). 50i see: RealOEM.com * BMW E70N X5 50iX Stabilizer, rear 35i see: RealOEM.com * BMW E70N X5 35iX Stabilizer, rear |
Yep, I noticed the same thing on that site but my car might already have the sway bar as part of a packaged option but I'll find out when I get under my car to check.
EDIT: The order guide shows option '220 self leveling suspension' as part of ZMP M Sport Package so as long as the self leveling suspension comes with the sway bar, I should have it. EDIT2: I looked under the rear today and yes, there's a sway bar that comes factory with the Sport Suspension. Eye-balling it, the size is about 1" so 26mm is likely the size of the factory sway bar. |
