Next SUV?

With seemingly more negative vs positive comments surrounding the new f15, what are people thinking for the next vehicle assuming you'll be in the market in the next year or two? I'm thinking Cayenne, Tourareg, RR Sport, or perhaps a CPO X5M. I really wished I had the same reaction to the new X5 as I did when the e70 was unveiled, but I really don't like it. Front looks OK, back not great, can't stand the side view.

F15 for me.

sorry guys, i really really feel like dynosaur here - i am still stuck on the looks and performance of the E53... i am becoming an old, crusty man!!!!!!!!!!

Sylvan Lake V35 07-07-2013 03:26 AM

I decided I don't want a bigger X5 looks are subjective but no arguing the size gets bigger every generation. Any way I went out a picked up an X5M to go with our X5d :D

CPO X5M sounds tasty especially with the F15 design in mind.

95wildtt 07-09-2013 09:49 AM

Gonna stay with my 2008 E70 until the wheels fall off... :dunno:

Nothing out there that I like better, and the X5M will be WAY TOO expensive to maintain long term, IMHO.

Crash513 07-16-2013 12:11 AM

I still love my E70, which I will keep until the extended warranty runs out. I admit I liked the more svelte looks of the E53 better, but with two big Dogs, I'm enjoying the bigger interior.
To paraphrase Gooldilocks, the F15 is too big, the E53 too small, and the E70 is just right. So, I`m keeping mine until the extended warranty runs out at 100k. Who knows, by that time the mid term refresh will be out and new X3 will be as big as the E53???

BTW, unless something has changed, I don't think M series cars are eligible for the CPO program. But, I`d imagine there will be some bood X5M yease returns with low mileage showing up soon as people trade for F15`s.

The only thing don't like about the F15 is that stupid looking tablet on the dash.
They make it look like the E70 than fine. Not crazy about the the stop start engine
but thats about all manufacturers now. If the new diesel does not constantly
break down like the current. Have all the bugs out causing expensive repairs
would go with another one. Otherwise the design look just like a e70 with a little
different taillight and headlight. Not stuck on a brand, would look at Audi or Porsche too.

I may end up doing the same thing! I only put 10k miles/yr on the car (currently 52,000 miles). Can't justify dumping it yet.

I'm in the same boat--only 46K miles (In-service date Aug '08) and still have CPO and Extended Maintenance until 8/14 and 2 more years on Wheel Protection. That being said, I've noticed some '10 X5Ms out there with good miles around the $50K price--I think in a few years I'd think about getting a 3 year old X5M.

low milage 10 or better X5M calls me daily. Right now with a wedding in 2 months its not feasible but sometime down the road.

M3Inline6 07-16-2013 03:41 PM

Pfft....after owning so many BMW's - and surprisingly enjoying this sole venture into the SUV/SAV segment - I will likely end up with a Honda Accord coupe if I don't keep the X5 at the end of the lease. :D I keep teetering between the idea of keeping the X5 or getting the new M4 (..I love me some ///M cars), but the alternative idea of choosing a less expensive (..but fairly mature) vehicle is an admittedly attractive premise. I guess time will tell.

I thought the whole premise was to make the purchase of a new ride while you are single BEFORE you get married ha. That's what all my buddies say.

I just came to the same conclusion. I was planning on waiting for the F15 and when I saw the photos I traded my 2011 E70 for a 2013! This Is my 3rd x5 and 3rd E70! I love this car and the build quality gets better in each year of each generation.

rh71 07-17-2013 11:19 PM

how have M cars in general been to maintain beyond the 4 year mark? Much worse than the non-M versions? More can go wrong is seemingly a given, but are costs that much higher too?

95wildtt 07-18-2013 02:20 PM

Don't know about the turbo ///M vehicles specifically, but turbo versions of other brands that I have a history with, tend to be 2-3x in diagnostic & repair costs...

That said, sure wish I could stuff an X5M Engine under my 4.8i hood
The rest of my SAV is awesome, but the extra 200HP would make it perfect. Maybe someone will do an aftermarket turbo kit for the E70...??

This is tempting:

HIGHLY doubtful! Hell, you can barely find software for a 35i. Unless you own a 5.0/X5M twin turbo, you're SOL.
