2013 35i Dinan Stage 2 installed

So ya, I took my 2013 35i M-Sport and had the Dinan State 2 for the N55 engine installed yesterday. I had driven the new car 3,600 miles before the install. The dealer suggested waiting until after break in, and I couldn't get back to have it done any sooner. But I like the idea that I really had a good deal of seat time to give me a good perspective of the oomph provided by the tuning.

I know, why did I do it? Really, there is no answer. The engine is pretty good (minus the lag) without the extra kick. Of course, 55hp and about 100 lb/ft is an impressive upgrade. Really, it came down to nothing more than why not?!

So was it worth it? Well, I'm only 30 miles into the upgraded engine, but I have to say, the difference is absolutely noticeable everywhere. Way faster and more responsive at slow speeds in both D & DS. Even at 70mph coasting on the highway in D--hit the gas, and the torque puts a smile on your face. My previous X was am 04 4.4, and I really enjoyed the V8 in that car. I can tell I'm going to enjoy this new tuned six even more.

Will report back again in another 1,000 miles. But I leave you with the two words my SA said to me when I drove off of the Dinan Authorized dealer lot yesterday--'have fun'. That pretty much sums it all up.

Nice to see that you're enjoying it! What was the price for this tune?

Was your X5 equipped with the OEM M Performance Tune? Mine came with the OEM tune, so I've been a bit tentative about adding an additional tune on top of that.

$1,999, plus $150 labor to install the software, and take it for a ride to make sure it worked as it was supposed to.

No. I intentionally did NOT get the OEM Performance Package. The DINAN software replaces the tune you got from the factory, so there really is no point. You'll be paying another $2k for only an incremental upgrade.

I have the 2012 35i Sport with the Dinan as well, pulling up to 25,000+ miles and enjoying every mile to this day. My only build regret is not checking the box option for Adaptive drive to smooth over some horrible road surfaces. For me Dinan was worth the money, keeping in mind that my build sheet creeped past $70k...

Yes, but software is not eligible for the sale price. It's full price.

For those that have the tune on the 35i, have you seen a decrease in mpg under normal driving conditions?

The lag on my 35i is killing me.
