Alarm going off randomly

I've been having this problem recently: When i lock my doors the alarm goes off about 5-10 seconds after I walk away from the car. I have to keep the doors unlocked for the alarm to stay off. When the doors are locked, the red light under the rear view mirror blinks rapidly. any ideas?

battery?

how old is your battery?

besides, you did not identify your car - just posted in E70 forum... post model, engine, age, mileage, some info on the trim level...

better yet, create a signature, that would reflect some of the info...

I have about 70,000 miles on it and the battery was just replaced 4 months ago. Maybe a malfunctioning hood senor?

was the battery properly coded to the car? the E70 requires the new battery to be "introduced" to the charging system, with correct crank-amps and what not, in order to properly maintain the battery...

a hood sensor definetely can set off the alarm in this manner...

The battery was installed by the dealer so i assume they followed correct protocol. I will bring the car in for a diagnostics. I feel uneasy leaving the car unlocked in public.

Do you know where the hood sensor is located? and will i be able to disconnect it?

i do not have an E70, and do not know the location of the sensor... sorry... :(

Do not count on the dealer to do things correctly... and where are you taking the car for diagnostics? a dealer? i can guarantee you, that he will tell you that you need to replace several modules - he will start with one, then will move to another one, and at the end of the day, you will be out of $1500 and your alarm still will not work...

The dealers are module swappers, they do not do "bench" repairs any longer... You are better off to talk to an Indy (that is also a hit or miss) or do some of the troubleshooting yourself, if you are mechanically capable...

I had the same problem with my E53. It ended up being the hood latch sensor. There is a sensor that wasn't being fully depressed when the hood was down. So, the alarm would randomly go off because the car was locked and it thought the hood was being opened. The solution, I unplugged and took out the sensor. Or you could buy a new sensor.

Try locking the car but DISABLE the internal motion sensor (RTFM, but I seem to recall pressing the 'lock' button a second time after locking it),,,Maybe the internal motion sensor has failed?

I have (had) a 2010 335i. The alarm would go off while just driving down the
road. Dealer naturally could not get it too perform for them. Its someones
else's problem now. So much electronics on cars now

My alarm goes off if I leave my windows down
