Door Pull / Armrest Part Number...

Anyone here have the p/n for the driver's side door pull?

The soft touch paint has begun to peel and i would like to replace the entire armrest/pull portion of the door panel if possible.

Well without knowing the specifics of your X (model or year) I would start with:

p/n 51416975777

Or go to RealOEM.com * Online BMW Parts Catalog and enter your specific info.

Make sure you order the correct one. One of the variables is the button to fold your mirrors.

I think I paid less than $50 for the part at GetBMWparts.com

The door panel does not have to be removed to replace it. Simply pry up on the plastic piece using a plastic trim removal tool with a credit card under it to protect the leather around the door pull. After it comes out, you will have to disconnect the power window buttons. Then you have to move the electrical box for the windows from the old trim piece to the new one by releasing several tabs. Need to be careful doing that since the tabs are very small and fragile.

I've got other parts of the interior peeling like that as well. Namely the cellphone slot area on the console and right under the central lock button. Is this a paint issue or a plastics thing?

very good news... i was going replace the window switch as well just to clean things up in pairs and make everything look uniform.

the finish on these trim pieces is called soft-touch paint. i dont know why but basically on every BMW they use the thinnest (or cheapest) quality version of it and it peels... out of the three german auto marques bmw has the worst version of this... it peels or bubbles in places that doesnt even have any traffic or wear. on VAG cars wurth trim paint comes very close to oem finish but there are other options Alexit Typ: softcoatig 402 -27 & FoliaTec Interior Color-Spray SOFTTOUCH & Dupont VelvaShield...

I only have experience with Wurth. I sprayed a few silver bits that came from the factory on my S5 and Q7 with it and it came out very well:

(the bezel is painted everything underneath it is oem from the factory)

The part number for the driver's side door pull with a black interior and power folding mirror button is 51416975791. For black interior without power folding mirrors it is 51416975777.

Had to do this already, had similar issues on my E46. BMW never fixes these issues :tantrum:
