I purchased new OEM wheels for winter and need to buy OEM TPMS. Can anyone here recommend the best vendor/sponsor or site to purchase them from? (By best I mean competitively priced and reliable.)

I thought all BMWs use the ABS starwheel to monitor tire pressure. When tire psi drops. rotation rate increases (in relation to other wheels), pulse rate from starwheel increases, low pressure light comes on.

You have sensors on the OE wheels???

I guess BMW switched to sensors on the wheel.....

Not true, my '05 330i ZSP had the starwheel system.

my m3 has abs but the x5 has the tpms in the wheel. i have seen pricing anywhere between $200-$350 for a set w/ the valve stems however i do not want some knock-off replica part from china that will fail prematurely. anyone here know of a place to purchase the oem parts at a discount?

Well aware. I've owned several BMWs and currently looking at a few used E70s, currently own an E53. Lurking to see posssible issues/differences.

So why this irrelevant info about e46 then?

it does not use tpms incorporated into the valve stems it uses abs and monitors rotation.
