Microfilter housing, rotary clip alignment
I just replaced my cabin filters today. One of things that I'm trying to make sure is installed correctly, is the 7 rotary clips that hold the microfilter housing in place. I'll probably do a step and step and figure it out myself but was hoping there was some kind of diagram that showed the correct alignment.
I mainly used this video as a guide to change the cabin filters but it doesn't really show the rotary clip alignment except to say "do a quarter turn". The problem is that you can rotate it fully 360 degrees. Tough to see how the clips hold onto the frame. http://www.carcarekiosk.com/video/20...er_cabin/check 2008 X5 |
IIRC the clips rotate 90 degrees only and have two small triangles that align when locked... on 2010 at least.

2 triangles? Not sure I see it. But anyway, you can definitely rotate the clips more than 90 degrees. I got it to clip on but one of the clips was a pain. I was going by feel and it was never fully engaging. Finally got it to after 15 tries. Definitely not a full proof system.

I really appreciate that picture. I was using a flashlight but didn't really see those triangles. I will definitely give it another closer look.
