oil filler cap...
 

i have a new spare bmw motorsport oil filler cap from an e46 m3 and i was wondering if i could use that cap on an n62 (48i) engine...

Try it. Only one way to find out :-)

i am sure the threads will work but i am curious if oil will start pouring out if it isn't screwed in deep enough or any other variable.

I am sure if it screws in place, it will seal it.

i tested it, it fits and screws in just not certain if it is a tight enough seal.

Only a cosmetic difference. Shld be fine.
