Help with "Personal Profile" key settings
Hi, I'm a new guy here. Picked up an '08 4.8i on Sunday. I love that thing. So, throughout the week I made little settings changes here and there, learning and changing as I drove the truck. Before all this I realized the Comfort Access wasn't working so I replaced the battery and have been using comfort keyless access ever since. Today for whatever reason I decided to hit the lock button on the remote and then unlock to get back in. Well that's when I learned about "person profile". All my settings got jacked and the car reverted back to everything pre my settings. Read the manual. Pg. 28 doesn't really say how to get the central locking to remember my personal profile. Did it fail to mention this is something the dealer has to do? How do I get the actual lock/unlock feature to just leave my "personal profile" and not go back to the previous owner's settings? Thankfully my 20-way seat didn't change! That item was left unchecked in iDrive!!
Any help for the noob? Cheers, |
The personal preferences are stored in the fob. I suspect that they may have been lost with the dead fob battery.

So lots of views. Does anyone know how to get the key to "remember" my climate, radio, nav, light settings?? How do I get rid of the old settings on the key?

Go into the idrive and there's a setting where you can delete stored key settings.

I don't have the multiple key problem because the used car only came with one key. :(

were you actively driving while making the changes? Perhaps you need to be in park? Mine has just worked so i'm not entirely sure what happened there. When I first took delivery, I sat there with the vehicle running and set several settings: seat, radio, phones etc.. I alternately use CA and the fob to lock/unlock. Course, as mentioned, I never bothered to set my 2nd key so if i unlock with that, I'm screwed.

Alright I've deleted the "programmable keys" setting in the iDrive. Guess I'll keep experimenting and check in with the dealer when i go back next week. In the meantime, I remain terrified of using the key to lock the car so will stick to the CA method. :)
