Does the 08 Nav have a night mode?
 

:dunno: I've looked through all the menus and the manual and can't find it. Can anyone with an 08 confirm that our Nav didn't have a night mode and that it only came after the LCI? If it does have it, where the heck is it??

Well, my 09 and 12 BMWs don't so I'd say...no.

Really not even your '12? That seems strange. I mean I've read that they don't automatically switch over based on a light sensor but I could have sworn I read that '12s could be put manually into night mode. Anyway, just looking to confirm on the '08s.

You would think so. My Garmin does it based on sunrise and sunset tables built into the database. And my old Traverse did it.

One of those Teutonic quirks that we have to put up with - like the MPG needle.

I feel like the screen dims a bit, doesn't really bother me too much at night anyway. Just drove it back from home (MI) to Chicago last night, was an absolute blast!:D

Odd... my 2010 X5 has a night mode. It's not automatic, but it's definitely a night mode.

I rarely use it, but I think your access it by pressing the "Option" button on the idrive controller while the map is displayed. I believe night mode was added with the change to a hard-drive system (vs. DVD) on the 2010 X5 and later.

Must be! Lame. My 07 S4 had all this stuff locked down...

Ok, I thought you meant AUTOMATIC Night Mode.

Yes, the 08 should have a night mode but you have to change it yourself.

A feature of many BMWs since the dark ages.
