20" sport package alignment feedback

Howdy to those who have undoubtedly been trying to maximize their tire life. From my experience, I have seen tires on these things range from around 12kmi to much much greater depending on the alignment specs. Just received an alignment and am looking for feedback.

Had the X5 in for a service and the outer edges of the fronts were wearing a bit quicker than I had wanted, so requested a 4-wheel alignment. Here is what I received back after requesting the alignment to be as close to the minimum BMW specs, plus requested front toe to be closer to 0 (I hope that was the right thing to do).

Previously the factory Dunlops wore out at around 12kmi and I had an alignment performed last year to the minimum factory specs. This has improved tire wear as I'm currently around 16kmi on these tires with around 50% tread left. Only current issue is outer tire wear, but (guessing here) it looks like that is due to my front toe?

Thanks in advance for feedback :)

I got 20k miles out of my Dunlop's by switching them from left to right.
The tires performed the same with the intended inside on the outside...its not a big deal.
The e70x5 has built in positive camber up front and there's no camber adjustment on the OE setup. I plan on getting the Eibach springs and hopefully that will get me some negative camber and put the front camber to a more neutral position.

I'm no expert but I would want the Camber closer to the Target Data column if possible.

Yeah I never had any wear issues on my Dunlops, never have had an alignment and got almost 25K miles out of them. Weird how some have issues and some don't.

I am glad you felt comfortable doing this but I don't know too many people which would ever recommend taking a tire which is designed to be an inside/outside tire and swapping them.

Alignment looks awesome, minimal camber, and toe closest to 0. Your tires should wear just fine. Not sure on differences between E53 and E70 but I usually run tires same psi all around, the rear must be stiff on yours with close to 40 psi.

hey there - yeah i have had the same exact issue as you have had.

i looked/researched for the same solution as you and have and had some great results.

our original dunlops lasted 20k and were completely worn away on the front outer edges after 15k.

i really hated the run-flats so i went for the continental dws tires and installed an air compressor under the cargo area and keep a few bottles of slime there as well.

the dws tires are great! the handling is not as sharp but still fantastic for an suv!

I began to learn about the factory toe-in and camber settings after the front outside edges were worn away again after 10k miles (factory spec alignment was done when i installed these). This forced me to replace the front tires again and research the alignment.

What i found out is exactly what you are mentioning:

I have the car set with as neutral camber as the suspension allows and a front toe very close to 0 (i think i am at .03). after doing this i have gotten 40k miles out of my set of dws's and just installed my second full set.

Not bad for the size of these tires and the type/power of our vehicles, no?

The ride in my opinion improved over the run flats - much smoother and quieter.. the handling like i wrote earlier is still very nice - just not quite as razor sharp as it was.. but still way better than ANY suv out there..

I missed this.

toe is definitely at the minimum! Should be OK. Although I see 0.0 and 0.01...this can be an issue, with some cars some loads. If you notice some slight vagueness, just a titch of toe up front can help settle the steering. (ie 0.01, 0.02 on both L and R)
