I only have one disc slot in the dash. I know an mp3 CD will play but how about an mp3 DVD? I don't have any kind of rear-seat entertainment package and no changer in the back either.

Curious about this also - I've only ever burned MP3s onto a CD and its worked fine. I don't like having to plug my phone in every time and mess with it off-screen so I'd rather have a big data disc in there too.

I made a $0.30 gamble and burned an mp3 data DVD. It worked great. I first tried a DVD-RAM disc and discovered that Windows Media Player couldn't work with it. Then, I put in a DVD-R and it worked great. 4gb of music saving successfully to the built-in hard drive. Mine is a 2010 xDrive35d with Nav and iPod connectivity, FYI.

So why not just use the USB port in the glove box?

I don't have a good reason, lol.

Doesn't the USB port only come with the ipod/smartphone option? Or some other circumstance? I don't believe I have one.

What do you do with it? Put MP3s on a USB stick or connect an ipod?

USB stick to load music and I think to update nav, its in the manual but I don't remember for sure.

I have the changer in mine, I guess I could load up 6 MP3 DVD's and be good forever lol

one thing I didn't think about - what do you do with NAV maps since that requires the DVD? Just choose 1 or the other?
