Message in my E70

Today my 2008 4.8 X5 has a message: "vehicle check. Inspection due soon. Please contact BMW service center soon."
I had searched this forum for info regard this message but unable to find any. Unable to locate any useful info in owner manual either, and I heard that service I and II are no longer recommended. I wonder does anyone have any idea what this message is about? I may have to call my indi shop about this.

It could be as simple as the yearly state required vehicle inspection. Look in iDrive under "i"/Vehicle Info or something similar and it will give you more information. The yearly inspection reminder is user set to specific month/year.

Yes, it did give me a date of 1/16, 260 mls. How do I clear it? OBD II scan will do it or has to be dealership. Thanks for your help.

I had the vehicle inspection message. Its basically a cash grab by the dealership to do a more "thorough inspection".

Depending on the message, you can try this:

As above ^

You can also swing by any BMW dealer with your car key, and ask them to read the key and tell you what the message means. Once you get the print out do your own service and reset the reminder as pointed to above.

Good Luck.

I did my vehicle check a few weeks ago. I think it was like $150 + taxes. Basically they'll just go over a bunch of things on their checklist to ensure everything is in good order. No problems found under my 4.8.

If you take a look at this youtube video, you should be able to reset it yourself.
