Weirdness after CIC retrofit

Hi,
Completed the CIC retrofit a few weeks ago, and have been getting the reset clock message almost everytime I start the car recently... The battery is only 1.5 years old. Everything has been working fine...

For some reason, he can not read the body or engine control modules to check battery for proper registration.

My indie pulled the codes below... Any ideas?

PS everything was reset and came right back on.

The only time I got the reset clock message is when the battery was low. Considering all the wierdness that you are getting, I'd say battery. If you want, I can send you a trace of my CIC which was retrofitted later tonight. Shoot me a PM with your email address.

Hi,
After thinking through this we believe it is the Alternator going bad. The battery is only a year old and tests perfect. When a charger is left on it overnight everything is fine. When the car is started and run several times over the course of the day, the weirdness happens.

In addition, there is an oil leak from the valve cover and the oil is running down onto and into the alternator. So added reason to believe this is the problem spot... Gonna be some serious $$s.

The X5 has 80000 miles on it, FYI

Not to say that it is exactly that issue but, my alternator went right after 80k, and that was right after new battery was needed at $75K.
Want to know what went at 95K? Valley cooling cover seal followed by alternator bracket seal, valve cover and timing cover seals. !ouch:

2 Attachment(s)
New Alternator fixed all of the weirdness. Up and running like new again...
There was one little artifact of the CIC Retrofit. See photos.
The service indicator came on for about 3 seconds when starting the X, and the mystery triangle appeared in the service needed menu.

Patryk & MEN took care of that for me this weekend, and all is good in X5 land again ;)

Are you going to do the combox retrofit? I finished my FLA (high beam assist retrofit), and I'm assembling parts for the top view retrofit now.

For the way I use the X, I don't see the Combox making much sense for me. The new CIC does pretty much everything I want.

I think I'm about done on the retrofit front... With all of the repair work that had to be done recently, my car $$s have taken a big hit.

Good luck with your mods, keep us up to date.

Thanks.
