4x4! Malfunction

Hello,

I recently purchased an '07 X5 4.8i. It now has 90,000 miles on it, and this past weekend while attempting to climb a friends long icy driveway, I got the 4x4! Malfunction warning on the nav screen. I have the Autoenguity scanner, but the codes it retrieved were apparently not codes it recognized as it simply said 'unknown dtc description'. They were:

6E6A
6EE1
5DEC

I have an older version of the ISTA/D software and it indicates that the first code is supposedly "Driver Seat Occupancy Detector Error". If this is true, I suspect it's coincidental, as I wouldn't think it would inhibit the xDrive system.

The second code it ISTA/D had no information on. The third code came back as "Transfer Case Malfunction".

Does anyone have a newer version of DIS that would be willing to lookup the codes for me to confirm what they are, and if possible print the service plan from DIS so I know what to look for? I suspect the problem is the infamous transfer case actuator gear failure. But it would be nice to have a better idea before pulling it apart.

Many Thanks!

The other place to start checking is the battery - when they start to go in the E70 all sorts of faults start appearing (though in your case it sounds like more of a "real" issue as the 4x4 system was fully engaged)....I'd still see what the date on the battery is regardless as that will throw all sorts of codes as it fails.
