eBrake turns off as you turn off engine?

Does any one else experience this:

When car's engine is on, the ebrake works perfectly.

If I shut down the engine, the ebrake will be turned off as well because I can feel the car rolls a bit if parked on slope.

I think I have the same or similar issue. Any one know how to repair this?

When the engine is running and the e-brake button is pressed the actual hydraulic brakes of the car are actuated, simulating e-brake.When the engine is turned off,th actual e-brake is actuated and the hydraulic brakes are released, causing a jerk if car is on a slope.
I believe that is made to help for a longer life of the e-brake motor and mechanism.

So I guess every one is experiencing the same? It is just so unusual to me because all other cars with manual ebrake can hold the car tight no matter what. X5's electronic ebrake feels as if the car is in P with no ebrake at all.

It's normal. Here is how e brake works.
