Late Oil Change Question

My 2013 E70 is due for it's first oil service. (Note - I have owned many BMWs and don't want this thread to get into a discussion on proper oil change intervals)

We need to take a 1500 mile trip tomorrow that just came up. My E70 says it has 240 miles left and I have an oil change scheduled early next week.

Will I harm anything if I drive the X5 1500 miles and get the oil service done where I am heading to? I can get it done the day I arrive. I personally doubt an extra 1200 miles will hurt anything, but I am concerned.

Thanks

No big deal!

Check the oil level, and top up as needed.

Nothing you'll ever be able to relate to. Fact is my history of oil analysis shows that the Castrol product should be changed at about 6-8,000 mile intervals. Most of the time fuel dilution was the limiting factor. The OEM scheduled change interval of approximately 11,000 miles is not in the best interest of the engine. You always want to change "good" oil, not oil that has exceeded its useful life or that has been significantly thinned due to fuel dilution.

1st oil service is usually done at a shorter interval because of break-in, but I think you'll be fine anyway.

You will be fine, just check if it needs a top-up
