E70 X35d weight
 
I finally got around to weighing the front and rear of my x5 tonight. I weighed it a few weeks ago with 3/4 and it was 5040 lbs.

I tried my best to get the accurate weights by using the b pillars as the "half way" point. I did not reweigh the entire car tonight, must have skipped my mind.

Results:

2650 front 2440 rear with a half tank.

Notes:

Weights were taken from a highway patrol scale that is regularly calibrated and used. Weights will be accurate within +/- 10 lbs.

My car does not have SLS, third row seating or adaptive drive.

Weight distribution vs. center of gravity.
While weight distribution (ratio of weight on front/rear axle) is important (x5 has something like 48/62, which some say is even better than 50/50), center of gravity may be even a bigger factor to vehicle stability and feel.
Center of gravity is a spot under the vehicle where a fulcrum could be placed and the vehicle will balance.

B-pillar may not be actually a half point between front and rear. Out of boredom, I just opened side photo of X5 and measured the half point to be a little closer to the front, specifically the middle of the driver's door handle.

The numbers will change by several dozen lbs from front to back.

Uh, unless you are placing your car on a physical fulcrum, where you roll the car as the wheels sit on a scale will have NO IMPACT on this measurement. (assuming the scale is accurate no matter where it is loaded.)

The weight on each wheel is unchanged based on how you move an imaginary line about on the concrete! If the scale is accurate no mater where you load it, you get one number.

Actually, the most accurate method is to place the thing you are measuring in the middle of the scale plate, but keep the other axle off the scale....

Hm that is actually true. What OP measured was weight distribution on front/rear axles, nothing more. Since that was "2650 front 2440 rear with a half tank", those numbers actually come up to 52/48.

BMW, that's not even the advertised 50/50! :stickpoke

No problem guys :) That's with me out of the car. I wonder what the V8 weight distribution is.

Should l go back with a full tank and see what the difference is?

I kept each axel off the scale when I took the weights.
