Retrofit E70 X5///M steering wheel

Hi

I have a E70 pre-LCI sport steering wheel (non-M). I was just wondering whether I could still use my existing sport airbag and buttons on a E70 X5M steering wheel - tri-color stitching, paddle shifters, and M-badged trim?

I don't think paddle shifters would work, but I'm hoping I could still use my existing airbag and buttons.

Thanks

Sure, why not. Anything is possible. If you figure it out, I see no reason the paddle shifters could not be made to work. The paddles are just a remote electrical switch to the transmission controller. Works just like the shifter in the console...electrically by push forward or rearward. Just need to figure out where to connect. I imagine at a minimum, you would need a new slip ring.

that was before there was an X5M i think which is why they needed to make a harness.
now its a simple swap.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone has the part number for the paddles? are the E9X paddles interchangable with the E70 X5///M steering wheels paddles?

I'm thinking to purchase a tri-colour sitching steering wheel off from a E70 X5M, however it does not come with paddles, multi-function buttons and airbag.

Have you considered the F15 M-wheel? It's such a nice sleek-looking wheel that makes our E70 steering wheels look like something from the 80s.

Wonder if it'd be possible but doubt it considering the shape of the airbag cover is not round on the E70. Not really sure how it works.

I think also the "rolling" type buttons on the steering wheel might need a different type controller.
