New here, couple questions.

So we just purchased a 2007 x5 3.0 with 44,000 miles on it.

1. My wife dropped some friends off after dinner last night and she sit there with the car running for about 10 minutes in park. The car began ticking loud right in front of the kidney grills like a lifter tick, she called me and I told her to bring it home so I could look at it. She pulled in and there was no more tick. I googled for over 2 hours last night and the only things I could find was people saying lifter tick while on short trips or at idle after short trips would cause normal lifter tick and second thing I found was people saying it was the injectors firing :dunno:
So is this normal or should I worry?

2. When I was looking/listening under the hood for the tick I also noticed that the heater hose that runs from the water valve to the firewall was pulsating/jumping. I grabbed the hose and it was warm and could feel something travelling through it everytime the pulse/jump happened. Heres a short night time video...does this mean there is air in the system? None of the other cooling system hosing were moving at all.

3. When I first start the car the defroster and rear vents all blow, but the dash and side vents don't. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal untill the car gets warm? My wife is the one who drives it and she called me as you got driving down the road and she said it was blowing out through all vent.

I appreciate the help ahead of time! I'm familiar with bmw's, Iv'e had multiple e36's/e46's and currently own a 93 318is with m3 swap and DD an 87 e30....but these new ones I'm still learning on. Thanks

#2 is normal. It's the heater auxiliary pump running.

1. The N52 engines until the revision in 2009 have a known problems with the valve tick on idle. There are a few fixes for that, replacing the lifters, rockers and sometimes the head.My 06 530xit with 170 k miles has a minor tick when it is driven on short distances or after it idles for a prolonged periods. However I would not be bothered unless it gets really loud and annoying.I just stick with Castrol Syntec 5w30 oil,and make sure the engine gets over 5000 rpm at least a few times a day.
