Annoying

I know this was discussed but why do we have to be special and not be able to close the darn trunk from remote or even from the button in the car ..... Soooo annoying :gun: :explode: :tantrum:

Whats the point of this? Lol

TerminatorX5 04-12-2014 01:00 AM

just retrofit the power struts and that's all to it...

You can have this coded. I had mine coded to to just that, both from the remote and from the button in the vehicle.

I have it coded. I know a guy local in NYC who does coding

You can't close the trunk from remote or inside because there's no obstruction sensor back there.
Now, you can have it coded..

ROW X5s have this feature enabled... many features are disabled in the USDM for safety reasons which translates into limiting risk from lawsuits. same reason you cant raise the windows with one click with the door open here but other places you can or even the lame warning stickers on the visors and the "objects are closer..." crap on your mirrors... there are tons of these legal speed bumps all over this vehicle.

if it bothers you that much meet up with someone to have your vehicle coded and you are then able to engage and disengage the tailgate.

If I have the truck open it's usually cause I am loading or unloading. Just push the button lol just mho

It definitely senses a blockage because if you pull the hatch up while it's trying to close it will immediately stop so I'm not sure why they disable the feature. The good thing, as stated above, is that it can be (re)enabled by coding.

there is no proximity sensor which is whats needed, there is a resistance sensor but thats not what US regulations require.

the answer is coding, its not that big of a deal why is this thread still going?
:dunno:
