Just Bought an '11 X5D - Intro/Questions

Hi Everyone,

I just purchased my first X5. I traded in my '09 335i x-drive 6mt for it. I've never owned and SUV or an automatic vehicle so this is going to be interesting!
The X5 has 29k miles on it and seems to be pretty much perfect. It came from Beverly Hills. It is platinum grey over black and has a build date of 03/11

Here are the options:
- Sport Activity Package
- Active ventilated seat package (something I really wanted here in Denver)
- Cold Weather Package
- Premium Package
- Premium Sound Package
- Rear Climate Package
- Tech Package
- 20" Wheel option
- Comfort Access
- Running boards
- Roof rails
- Dark bamboo wood
- Leather dashboard (still deciding how I like this option)
- Heated rear seats

So as you can see other than Adaptive drive it's pretty much loaded!!

A few questions for all of you:
1. With a build date of 03/11 shouldn't I have the newer coronas? I don't think I do...
2. Can I use BMW apps? How would I know if I can?
3. Those of you with the 20" option what do you do for snow tires/wheels?
4. What's the best programmer to get for the most power out of this thing? I'm missing my 335 which I used a Cobb accessport on.
5. What do you guys think of the perma protection option from the dealer? I bought it for 3 years and they claim if anything happens to my leather or interior they'll repair it free.
6. In the manual it shows some screen if you hit the traction button that brings up the torque on the screen - how do I make that happen?
7. Is there some app to tell me where the best diesel fuel is? I've never owned anything diesel before.

That should be enough for now!

Thanks in advance for the responses!

Regards,

,

'perma protection'? Sounds like the classic scam. What the DOCUMENT SAYS is what counts, not what they say.

The thing you are seeing in the manual is X6 as I recall

Welcome

I don't need snow tires in my climate and just upgraded to 20inch. I would consider selling my old wheels (factory 19 inch, 2013 5.0i non-sport) if you are interested.

we are very tolerant on this board, but please - if you have something for sale, PM the interested party directly or consider a premier membership... we don't have that many rules, but the couple that we do have, we'd rather have folks adhere to them...

what 20" wheel did you get for yours?

Sorry - if I decide to market them I will put them in the for sale and upgrade. Didn't mean to violate any rules.

Rohana RC26 staggered.

you can get a JBD from burger tuning to pep it up a bit
and early 2011 did NOT get new corona yet :(

sgtpeper 05-19-2014 09:18 AM

What is the big deal about having one built after 10/10 then?

Thanks,

Thanks,

prelci vs LCI.
you get CIC navi, the newer bumpers and taillights (gas models were the newer engines) ......but no coronas, your headlights have different turn signal housings than the PreLCI (2007-2010) models, but you will be missing things sich as the coronas and COMBOX (bmw apps etc).

sgtpeper 05-19-2014 09:25 AM

So only late 2011s+ got the combox?

Damn...

pretty sure yea.
and i think its either you have satellite radio OR bluetooth audio.
at least from the x5s i looked at neither had BOTH.
i think that came with combox

sgtpeper 05-19-2014 09:39 AM

I seem to have both of those.

Hi sgtpeper,

I'm from Denver too and just bought my 2011 x5 diesel last week. Just curious, where did you get yours from?

I also chose the perma protection too. If I see any hint of dryness or cracks in my leather or dash, I'm going to take it back to Auto Nations to have them file the claim to have it repaired.

No, you get new bumpers, combox, but not coronas. Coronas are for those with build date around august 2011.

Just stick to stations with high turnover. Avoid those selling too cheap or looking rundown. Pretty much same guidelines as for gasoline.

sgtpeper 05-29-2014 10:40 PM

Yea I'm hoping this perma protection isn't BS......

I bought mine at Murray. I will never buy from them again. I feel like they were less than straight forward with me. I had them bring the car from their sister dealership in Beverly Hills.

Car is currently in the shop for a number of odds and ends as well as a check engine light.... Ugh...

AceWynn 05-30-2014 04:05 PM

Yea, same here. I've been researching the perma protection trying to justify the purchase. I think it's a good buy with leather interior. The way the dealer stated it, it sounded like if there is any issues to the paint or interior, they will repair it. So if you start noticing dryness in your leather, have them take look.
