Removal of Door Handles

:thumbup:Hi, the door handles come without the door panel, 10 to 15 minute job. If you decide to scrape the gooey plastic off and polish, just take a little care. I wish I had my Gopro when I did mine then I could have posted the video. Good luck.

Yeah I see people keep saying that (and I've watched it) but it doesn't show the part in question being removed. He pried the leather part off, takes the screws out, and moves on. The melty piece is still on the door, might come right off though. I'll just give it a try.

I had the same problem on all the handles. I peeled one and it took a long time, the part that got more sun was easy but the ends took a while. I would say just replace them. Get a trim removal tool and pry the front leather piece from the inner part (its held in by clips) and then there are two screws that hold that inner handle piece.

Just try it, it'll become obvious. You can do it.

Thanks to all who had responded about the door handle. I just wanted to add some additional notes for people who may need to do this in the future.

The video to get the door panel off is very helpful and you do not need to remove the door panel in order to replace the handle. What you will need is a T20 and a T9 screwdriver to get the handle off.

Door Handle

I had the same problem with mine. All I did was remove the handle, used a heat gun and plastic scraper to get rid of the rubber and then cleaned with thinners, problem solved.

I replaced the rubber handle piece to the front passenger door this past Sunday - very easy and you only need to remove 3 torx screws as mentioned above. No need to remove the entire door panel. Looks much better and the part is only $48.49 at ECS Tuning.

ECS has been a good/reliable source for parts and accessories over the years for me. If I can't find something on their website I call them and the customer service rep can usually find it. Prices are good and availability is very good.

(I'm not in any way affiliated with ECS Tuning other than being a satisfied customer)
