If you only knew what a nightmare they are, starting with the power steering pumps, going thru the ignition system and finishing with the fuel injection system.............

I'm not going to get in any type of argument, but I'm not seeing the things you mentioned as common problems that go wrong with the engine. I assume you're a tech and know more than I do, but in general, I've seen the 3800 classified as a motor that "runs terribly for longer than most others run at all."

Right now, the Grassroots boys are suggesting Lexus and Infiniti cars, all used of course. I've never driven an Infiniti yet, but maybe they give more steering feel while still being Japanese reliable with their VQ line of engines.

Get them a 4Runner. Those things are tanks, and literally millions of them sold all over the world. I just returned our F150 lease, and picked up a new 4Runner for work. I miss the F150 bad. But it was killing me parking it in the city.

I drove an older 4 runner, and they are solid ass cars. That's why I got a new one. Too bad it isn't a true utility car like the F150.

If you get a Rav4 be sure to get a V6, the 4 cylinder is flat as shit to drive. Still pissed that my wife (girlfriend at the time) didn't want to pony up the extra 50 a month for the V6 on her payments.

Dead reliable though and will run forever with either engine. She has 43k miles on her 2011, all it has gotten is filter changes, oil changes every 6k, and tire rotations. She is through her first set in the next 3k or so miles.

X6 to an Impala? Are you serious?

I had an Impala rental on Monday and hated everything about it. It even needed more gas with rolling on the interstate than our X5D in average.

The Mercedes in this price range are mid 2000 models what are not the most reliable cars Mercedes build.

VW Passat?

Utility is covered by our Honda Ridgeline. They are looking to downsize though since they already have two other large trucks. The Infiniti EX line seems like a good size fit too. Rav4's are definitely in there too.

I didn't think it was crazy to jump from an X6 to a mid level GM product. I drive tons for school and like all of them. They have all the basic features they need, nothing more. At this point, my mother just asks for Bluetooth and maybe a backup camera.

Can't get much more appliance than a Ford Taurus / fusion. Our company has them for our sales guys and they all have 150k+ miles with only basic maintenance on most of them. All have full leather, power heated/cooled seats, bluetooth radios with satellite radio etc etc...

My other car is an 04 Lexus LS430. Bought it CPO'ed a few yrs back with 25k mi and I absolutely love the car. I now have 58k on it, and its so quiet and silky smooth the only real upgrade I can see is a loaded S-class, or one of the ultra Brits (rolls, bentley), thats how good the car is. Best part of all it's been super reliable.

Good idea. My parents might like driving an Aston Martin. :lmao: They sure are sharp looking cars and I do like the newer Fords. Now to see how much they're going for.
