It also works well for bad stop and go traffic so you aren't on the brake all the time and/or shifting from park to drive all the time.

I've used it a couple times myself, takes some getting used to at first, but once you use it all the time, as others have mentioned it can come in handy.
I first 'experienced' this on a 2011 Mercedes that I had and if I recall correctly, it was like that by default, I don't remember now if you could even shut it off like on the BMW's. |
I use mine when I'm waiting in the drive thru for my coffee.

I use it everyday while I am in traffic, it gives you foot a well needed rest from being on the brake.

Word of warning though if you drive more than one vehicle. Forgetting that you are in the other vehicle without auto hold can get you into trouble if you aren't paying attention.

I can do with or without it. I actually used it for a long while and just stopped as it's another button to push when you get in. I don't miss it so I never bothered with it again. I am also leery of it getting me stuck as early on in the E70s lifecycle a lot of people were getting parking brake malfunction and having to pull the cable with the tool. But the best use is probably while in heavy traffic and hardly moving. If you need to inch up every few seconds, it's not worth it.

Cool thanks, in my case probably best use case pulling into and out of driveway that's steep. On my ml350 tapping break twice puts in hold which I find more friendly but eh

Make sure to remember to turn it off before going into carwash
