P0112 Error Code

Hi guys,

I just recently got a check engine light on my 2011 X5 35d. I took her to the nearest Auto Zone and they said that there was only one error code which is P0112. Did some research and found out it was an issue with the AIT (air intake temperature) sensor. I'm not able locate the AIT, can anyone post a picture of the location of it for me? Or if someone believes it can be an issue with something else, please let me know.

I appreciate it, guys!

Number 15 on the diagram:
RealOEM.com * BMW E70N X5 35dX INTAKE MANIFOLD-SUPERCHARG.AIR DUCT/AGR

For BMW no one should trust generic code readers.Chance of getting the wrong code is 50:50.

Thanks, bawareca!

I think I was able to locate it. Please see the picture below. http://www.xoutpost.com/members/acew...iat-sensor.jpg

I'm just wondering how it's suppose to be removed the connector and also the sensor itself. I didn't want to use too much force. Should it just come off pretty easily?

Thanks!

OP

Are you thinking that "it was an issue with the AIT (air intake temperature) sensor." will translaye into "remove the AIT, replace and problem solved"?!?!?!??!

My first AIT code on my 2010 resulted in $4000+ of work and ultimate lemoning.

But more to the point, the system traps a reading that is out of range...this DOES NOT MEAN THE SENSOR IS BAD...it usually means something ELSE is wrong causing the DME to sense something out of range.

You are shooting in the dark here... you need a computer to read codes, operating parameters, etc, etc

ALSO, BMW may have some emissions issues in the Denver area with the elevation...do a search, something might be up. Have you spoken to the dealer yet?

ard, wasn't really a shot in the dark. Had the code read and it said Intake Air Temperature issue.

Just for everyone who might have this problem in the future, I took it to BMW and they said it was an issue with the maf sensor.

OK, so a shot in the semi-dark?

The point is that it was NOT the intake air temp sensor that was bad.

What was the fix??? "issue" isnt "fix"

thx for the update, BTW

They replaced the maf sensor.

That is why I mentioned the generic code readers are not reliable for BMW.It may be :"IAT open circuit or short to ground" or it may be something else related to the IAT,but the generic scanner will say only "IAT sensor".
ARD is also correct about those matters.Modern car,German especially, can be viewed only as a system of components working together so the proper diagnosis could be made.
