X5 day at the boat ramp

I ran into a fellow X5'er using his 35d to tow his boat. (He had already walked it out)

He said he gets better mileage towing than his other vehicle normally does

Nice!
I wish i didnt forget to take some pics this last sunday. My old '03 4.6is was getting 16 mpg cruising 80-85 mph.The current '12 X5D gets 16 mpg towing my '01 Sea Ray 21 Sundeck with 65 mph.The boat is not heavy, but the frontal area is twice the size of the X5.It gets up to 19 Mpg towing my race car on a open trailer.
I am missing the self leveling suspension, but the situation is much better than i expected.

Nice shots man! Love how much more aggressive the pre-lci looks next to the LCI

To be fair, that LCI doesn't have the SAV package, so no fender flares, no 20s, and no aero kit. I have a neighbour with a MY '12 with the Aero kit, and it still turns my head when I see it. Super aggressive looking. There are so many LCI Msports here, but very few LCI aerokit X5s in Toronto

The owner of the other X looks like he has a smile on his face when he saw your X beside his...lol...

It was funny, because as we were talking, another white X5 rolled up. I had never seen so many X5s at the launch. Meanwhile, my wife is on the side standing thinking, are you taking pictures again for your internet forum.....

lol... wives... they couldn't care less. My wife didn't even notice I changed my wheels one day (from 214s to the M6 gran coupe wheels) and it was right there sitting in the driveway when she pulled up.

BTW, what angel eyes are you using? Are those the LUX v4? They are equally bright on all 4 which I haven't seen on a pre-lci. EDIT> oh nvm I see your sig says retrofit. Looks nice. The more days go by, the more I want that CIC retrofit. The cost is in the thousands, isn't it?

blue dragon 08-03-2014 09:08 AM

No, the cost of the parts has gone down now that the F15 is out, and people are doing NBT (next best thing) retrofits into the E70 now. If you just want to do the CIC, you can probably get the CIC, the controller and the trim for less than $1000 on ebay if you watch and make an offer on the right deal.

You will still need to buy the emulator, and pay for coding if you can't do it yourself.

This thread has all the details if you want to retrofit NBT.

Pictures of your car was probably the primary reason me wanting a white E70 with an aero kit, IIRC, you had the first one in the country with that combination?

LCI vehicle with yellow angel eyes next to pre-LCI with white LED coronas. That's gotta mess with new people figuring out the differences between lci and pre. :D

I may have been 2nd in the country, but I got the idea from an old member from Dubai. He had some sick 21" style 128 wheels too.

I remember ordering the combo from the dealer and they had to put in a special request for the saddle brown. They told me a few months later it was allowed in their system as a regular order.
