2010 E70 AC belt replacement
looking for some direction on changing the AC belt on my 2010 E70. found a reference for a gates crankshaft tool sft004 to manually turn the crankshaft to put a new belt on but cant find the tool. is this needed? is there an alternative tool to use to turn the crankshaft while in neutral? thanks for any info.

hopefully someone has some info on this service. i found many a place to get a stretch belt installation tool, pretty common actually. however, the crankshaft bolt on the E70 (M57N2) is not a standard metric socket fit. i haven't found a source for an adapter socket nor have i found a DIY reference anywhere. that is hard to believe.
any help in sorting this out is much appreciated. |
I have did that with just a regular tools.M57 nose is like motorsport engines-4 bolts instead of 1 in the center. You can turn it carefully using one of them, but you need a special socket E7 or E8.

If it is original belt it will stretch and you can ride it over the pulley.Non-OEM belt may break the cords inside if you ride it over the pulley.

Lisle Tool for AC Belts
2 Attachment(s)
Hi PgHanna66: Did the Lisle#59370 tool referenced above "do the trick"?
Any hints or recommendation on how this tool fits the AC pulley and how you rotated the AC pulley to install the belt? It appears to this mechanic, the KTC brand tool #A1408 better mimics the BMW 11 1 240 tool, however, KTC is sold out with no known date for restock. Alternatively, might someone with either the BMW or KTC tool care to sell, rent, or loan the tool? Thanks Dick Casey |
Bump! Looking for remove/install tool for the A/C belt too,.
