Sell now or next year?

This is not a for sale thread. But I would appreciate some input.

I have a 2013 X5 5.0 which I bought new 20 months ago. It has 46,300 miles on it so is nearing the end of its warranty. It is well equipped and I recently put on new wheels, tires and wheel arches (wider). I also have a black grille installed. I have the original wheels (no tires), wheel arches and grilles. I think it would sell for $43-45k today. Condition is very good, but not pristine. No mechanical issues and it has been reliable.

I am considering selling it now, or waiting until March/April after winter. We have generally mild winters here but forecasts are suggesting another cold one and more snow than last year. If I hold it until then, it will have about 60k miles. Adjusting for mileage and another model year older, I think it would be worth $38-42k then (I used a 2012 model with that mileage to get pricing online).

It is under warranty now, would not be if I wait. Fall is usually a good time to sell AWD/4WD vehicles, Spring not so much.

So, what would you all recommend - when is it best to sell and why then?

Thanks!

I think you already figured it out.
Fall - great time to sell AWD in prep for winter. Plus, your X5 will be under warranty which will make it MUCH easier to sell privately.
Spring - additional depreciation, more miles, and out of warranty.

I agree that now is the time, esp with the AWD feature, though I doubt the less than 4k miles left on the warranty is a big selling point.

No idea on price, GLWS...

Keep in mind that before 50k the new owner CAN buy a bmw warranty.... You can essentially say "add $3600 plus a detail and it is a CPO". After 50k the "BMW V8 Boogieman" may be on people's minds.

;)

Of course you could buy a warranty and spend your new car purchase money on something interesting....

Sold it. Actually traded it at a good price and spread for a new C300 Sport (2015). Keeping the E53 of course :)
