Hello everyone,

New member here and I thought I'd introduce the beasts

My name is Taran btw

So I have a 2009 BMW M5 as my DD and a 2009 BMW X5 3.0S.D as the wife's DD
Love both of the cars and surprised at how quick the X5 is! It's no M5 but damn that thing moves quickly. It's carbon black with camel Nevada leather and burr walnut trim options include
Reverse camera assist (yet she's still hit the car :cussing:
PDC
Third row seating
M sport pack
BMW advanced loud speaker system
Heated front seats

It's not loaded with options but I'm happy with it, I would like to upgrade to LCI tails but am on the search for a bargain and I don't need them urgently and I would like to upgrade the exhaust tips to those similar of the 4.8i X5 or LCI models with the wider tips, not because I'm a boy racer but I think it's a cleaner look any advice on these little mods would be very much appreciated and I'm glad to be part of the forum :)

Welcome, nice car.

I'm not surprised you like the pickup on the SD - they also respond very very well to a chip.

Takes it from 225kw/600nM to 280kw/780nM (!!!)

Hi guys,

Thanks for the welcome, I really liked having a look at the list of your mods TerminatorX5. And you're kidding Smokey53 that the SD has 600nm of torque?

Yup! It's a stump puller, that's for sure! Compared to the 520nM of the M5:cool:

Have a look at this page, these guys are in Australia but no doubt there would be a tuner over there who could achieve the same results:

There is an Italian product (at least I think its Italian) called CHIPBOX. I have it installed on my X5 3.0d and the results are pleasing. The fitment is all but invisible since the cabling is identical and the the box can be fitted out of sight. Granted each box is tuned for a specific engine type and is Plug'nPlay and therefore it stands to reason you're not going to achieve as optimal a result as you would by having the vehicle professionally tuned on a 4wd dyno but you'll notice nonetheless. Best part is the unexpected gains in fuel economy...at least in my experience. That being said, my 3.0d with its chip is pretty much only pushing out what your beast does right out the box.

Pity about the third row seating because if you had the space under the floor in the boot I would suggest that the best single investment you could make would be the OEM spare wheel and jack. TOSS THE RUN FLATS!!! I know at least half of the guys here are gonna tear me a new one for saying it but I've done exactly that and the improvement in ride comfort is that good that you'd never believe me until you experienced it for yourself. Not to mention the many thousands of Km extended tyre life you achieve with conventional rubber. Before you judge, I live in South Africa where our roads are delightfully pock marked due to years of neglect and half-arsed patch jobs and sport suspension and/or run flat tyres on our roads (freeways and main city roads excepted) is unbearable.

I already ditched the runflats, most annoying thing on the car by far but with 4 kids I need the 7 seats so a bit risky but I'm interested in the 780Nm ;)

Understand the difference between a real tune (flash, reprogram, whatever) and a box that just fools the DDE into adding more fuel.
