I just read all 23 pages of this, looking to code some items:

I use an iPhone6 and want to code a 2011 X5 50i

Questions:
1) Why use this over NCS? I seems this has more limited features and certainly some "beta"-type issues? (i know very little about NCS outside of it just having more capability)
2) Can Carly code all doors to unlock as ignition turned off?

The first reason is that unlike NCS, you don't need a laptop, wired interface and technical expertise to code your car with Carly. NCS is factory software, so of course it has more coding possibilities (yet less than can be achieved using PA Soft ;)), but you really need to know what you are doing with NCS - it is not just a matter of choosing options in plain English, you need to know the particular module where the coding information is stored as well as what coding alternatives are available for the command you are working on. For example, I coded the legal disclaimer for the Nav on my E70 not to display (a fairly simple job).
The procedure was to connect NCS to the car, read the car, then select the appropriate module (in this case the CAS) and read the data from that module. From there it is a matter of opening the file read from the CAS, modifying the command (in this case from LEGAL_DISCL aktiv to nicht_aktiv, saving the modified file, then using a custom NCS profile to write the data back to the car. All up, about 15 minutes (I am not a novice with NCS).
I coded the triple flash indicators on the same car using Carly in around 30 seconds.
Although there is plenty of info on NCS, there is no factory backup and there are plenty of users who have wound up causing problems for themselves by changing data that should have been left alone.

Thanks for the advice guys, even though Neil the OP was kind enough to agree to meet up with me I just went ahead and bought the adapter and iOS app since everyone here recommends it and it's relatively cheap. Should be here today even though I ordered it last night at like 9:30pm from Amazon... gotta love Prime!

Yes with Carly you can program the driver door or all doors to unlock after turning ignition off, mine does all doors now and its such a good feature. Others aren't wondering why doors aren't opening anymore as they tried to get out.

I use an iPhone 6 with the Carly app and the only way to unlock the doors is not when I stop the engine, but when I pop the key from the ignition. It's like, turn off the engine and then tap the key and all doors will open. It makes sense if you stop to a gas station and you don't want to open all doors before making sure the surroundings are safe (I have kids), while you already turned off the engine.

There is an option to instantly pop the key when you turn off the engine, this way you'd have the car automatically open all doors using only the START/STOP button (called convenience-something, forgot the name) but there is no way, at least on my 2012 X35i, to have the doors open when i turn off the engine with the key still in the ignition. At least I haven't figure it out, yet. The downside is the car will shut everything off once the key pops out of the ignition. Most times I need to turn off the engine and still be able to listen to the radio.

Hold the stop button for a few seconds and it will unlock. Like how you do to eject the key but since there's no key in there, it unlocks

It doesn't work. On the good side, holding down the start button will turn off the radio and the lights in the car as opposed to before when I had to remove the key from the ignition in order to turn everything off. I have a garage and the key is always in the ignition while it stays inside.

The first thing you need to know is whether all the faults are currently present or have been stored at some time in the past. Make sure that the battery is fully charged, then run another diagnostic and clear all the fault codes - this will eliminate any historically stored codes leaving only those that relate to current issues with the car.
To display these, run a second diagnostic after the codes have been cleared and the result will return current faults. If you report the results back here we can go from there.

I had previously cleared them on 11/14 so anything from my earlier post today is from within the last 3 weeks, here is from Nov 14th after clearing only 1 came back:

I believe only that same 00A811 came back again today after clearing the codes, but I did it with the engine running since the battery low warning was coming on and I was having trouble connecting without the engine running. You will see it says only 11.4# for the battery from the 11/14 run, it's still the original battery from 2007
