so today while over 30 miles away from home I see this development on the driver side front. :wtf: is this even legal. thankfully got home ok and have a tow pickup tomorrow to haul my :ass: to the dealer. really glad I got that wheel and tire insurance. would anyone suggest going to original dealer or anyone should be fine for something like this?

Nasty. Ruptured sidewall, could have been from hitting a sharp pothole or similar

If you're going through insurance then I'm guessing you best call them and ask how they'd normally process it, otherwise, yep - any tire shop could replace the rubber and will inspect your tyre for cracks, then balance it up to ensure it's not of round.

You hit a pothole/manhole . That's the beauty of RFT . Go to original dealer as they will most likely change tire without having to pay upfront

oh also any thought on if it got somewhat cold over here in the last say 24-48hrs? i know it doesnt make sense since i had it since last winter when we had -20 and lower temps but... i personally dont recall hitting anything but the CEO who uses it as a daily driver who the heck knows.

From personal experience , the insurance may have different agreements with individual dealers , meaning ...yes you can go anywhere but you would have to handle the process , if you go thru dealer you bought from , should be in and out they handle claim and everything for you .

I'll call them up in the AM to find out, any thoughts on whether i should chance driving myself in or just have it flatbedded over? to either dealer i'm looking at 25-45 miles and i already put at least 35 that i know of and probably more because i dont actually know when this happened. they are only rated for 50 miles but thats on paper.

To be honest when it happen to me was on a trip from NYC to Philly and wasn't able to find a dealer that had time that weekend , had to drive back home (95 miles) however tire was not flat just open edge like your picture

will talk to dealer in the am see what they say. i dont know why they put these POS tires on, everything i've read about them says they are crap. not quite sure i have a better solution. maybe i should put on the winter set i just got and use this as a sign lol

do you not have the spare tire kit?
why not throw that on instead of having to get towed.
i hate the RFTs bc they ride like shit, and was so happy when i found a set of 20" Conti DWS.
but they do come in handy in times like this!
