Vinyl wrap piano black
Hi all,
Been digging into some options for replacing the trim on my X5 because I'm kinda bored of the Burr Walnut trim it came with. I like the idea of piano black as it would go well with the pearl trim finishers or whatever BMW want to call it ad as I have Camel nevada leather it would contrast well.. As piano black is a special order item it's going to be difficult to find it unless I go to the $tealer. I was thinking about doing a vinyl wrap with 3M 1080 which is the new version of Di-Noc (The poor man's piano black). I've never done anything like this but I'd like to have a go, I've no idea how to get any of the trim off the car. Any insight into this would be great and much appreciated. This is the vinyl I have in mind https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYfJicZuDBs Thanks |
Hi, I removed my alloy trim and had a bodyshop paint it in the same metallic as the car.

I've red other posts where people said they were not able to remove any of the trim. It would be cool if you could list: 1. trim strip location - remove from back, front, snap in - held in place by - remove this part first something alike. Good looking interior. |

Thanks guys. 'They' didn't remove the trim, I did. Real pig of a job and the car was totally stripped, but overall worth the effort. I followed a few how-to pages online but most of it is fairly obvious, I'll try to dig the guides out a little bit later. Cheers, Paul |
Here is the original thread I posted before I tackled the job, the guides half way down the page are the ones I used.
Interior trim removal? http://www.xdrivers.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=9423 I bought a pack of trim removal tools and only needed a selection of torx to do the entire job. |

Not really, just take your time, everything is pretty obvious. The centre console trims are the most fiddley. Good luck! |
