Hifi sound system upgrade.... what to do

Looking for a great HiFi sound system upgrade.. for my 2012 e70

Heard mixed reviews about the BAV sound upgrade, and am really looking for some nice CRISP audio (nice crisp sounding highs, great lows, and deep bass, etc.)...so I don't think that is going to cut it.

I am from Long Island NY so if any of you guys have any experience with a sound upgrade from the Hi-Fi system (not base or premium) system, and have a good recommendation for installation, let me know please!

I am a complete amateur here with this subject so I have no clue what I need to do or what it should range in price with installation, have no idea about amps, tweeters, etc... but have seen these all over during my research on the topic..

Looking to spend around $1,000 total, can go a little higher depending on the expense to value ratio here..

Thanks a lot in advance for all of your inputs... and happy thanksgiving to all

I've not done a lot of research here but, there are many manufacturers that already make car speakers. So I am not sure if that is possibly what you are interested in but.

Take a look at the DynAudio installed in this new generation X5.

From working in high end audio and automation world I stand behind the quality.
Also in the current year models it looks like Harman Kardon and Bang & Olufsen are both available. I do believe that you could go to your local dealer and listen to the new speakers. I do not know the cost.

Just a thought. I don't know what system you have but before you buy anything make sure you play a 24bit classical or Jazz CD using the system you have.
What I discovered is crappy music in, you get crappy music out. All recordings are not created equal. It's not always your sound system.

^ that is a good point. I recently uploaded my iTues library to a USB drive in order to get better quality of sound (in addition to a more permanent device that's in the car all the time)

Very true. I've tried many many different genres of music. For the wide arrays of music that I do listen to though, the system is just a little sub par for me. I have the HiFi version that was standard in all X5's for mid 2011+ (depending on Prod date)
