Cold start SOS message

My 2011 35D is giving me SOS message on the dash when I start the car in cold weather anything under 0C. No iDrive, no radio. After driving for a while iDrive will start and also the radio.

Any ideas?

Could be the car detecting a low battery charge state and cutting not important consumers until the battery gets some charge.
