Hello all,
New X5 owner and stoked about actually owning a BMW:thumbup:. 2007 model X5 4.8i. I will have a few questions from time to time so I hope I don't bore y'all with my lame newb questions.

We looked and looked for an X5 that met our expectations and our price range and finally found one last saturday. With it being a 2007 model we understood there would be a few knicks, scratches, chips and the normal wear and tear, but this one has very minimal signs of that.

My question is..... in the third row/cargo area where the seat belts are held from flopping around. The little piece that flips out to kinda pinch the seat belt to the side in order to hold the seatbelt out of the way. If your looking at the rear of the vehicle its the one on the right. well its broke/missing. I was hunting a part # of some sort so i could get it to fix. sorry this was so long.

Any help would be appreciated.

next question, does the heat normally take long to heat up or do these models just lack good heat. This is the wife's ride and she's already complaining about it. #shootmenow

Hmmm. Hard to say, I dont have a 48. But BMWs can run cool when thermostats fail.

Back in the day, you'd just look at your temp guage, but BMW has elimiated thse on many models. Do you have one?

Have you noticed any black specks/soot on the tailpipes/bumper? Taking a WAG here...

I have the same model and the heat is NOT a weak point in these cars , check your cooling system

Thanks for the response guys, ill check everything this evening and get back with you. Another question,... the wife wants to know if she can bluetooth or use a aux wire to use her iTunes through her phone (for the kids music and such)?

Not so sure if this is true for 2007s but in my 2010 model, the input jack is inside the console between the driver and passenger seats. As for Bluetooth, you need to get a USB Bluetooth music receiver. In my 2010 E70 3.0i, the USB port is next to the aux jack in the same console.

Well, got the aux cable plugged in and that works fine. Tried all the heat suggestions that I've read to no prevail. The heat on, barely blows warm....BARELY. She's really regretting this purchase, man this sucks. oh and the horn doesn't work either, yes I glanced at the fuse panel in the back but it was hard to understand. the couple fuses I pulled weren't blown. dang, one small thing after another. Getting the windows tinted monday and then running it buy a shop to get it looked at.

Did you have a Pre Purchase Inspection done?

I dont understand how people can agonize over a TV purchase at bestbuy for $899 yet a car for $20, 30k is just a leap of faith.

You'll get used to it. Like any used car, there's going to be teething problems. I'd just ask her if she'd prefer to be riding in a prestige used vehicle that needs a few issues sorted out, or a brand new Korean econo-box for the same money. Because those are effectively her two choices. :thumbup:

Once you get it sorted, she'll be loving life again.
