Cheap Underhood Plastic

I found this cheap cracked up brittle plastic tonight. It is a 2011 so would the warranty cover this? Pretty ridiculous that it is already falling apart. My 2001 M5 has the same problem.

I ripped mine apart as I was taking it out. I didn't see the torx screws. lol It cost about $50 for the part I think....

I believe this is a known issue. Breakdown of this part can allow water to leak onto injectors causing major issues. Do a search. There may be an updated part....

That's part of the bulkhead and it's not covered under warranty...anything plastic basically is not covered anymore from what I understand. I complained many times about this to my SA when I bought my X and saw it basically cracked all the way around the right angle part and was sagging down in my engine bay.

I have the same issue but never really bothered with it.. Any idea whats the part # and price?

My 2012 X6M is in the shop at this very moment getting this replaced; yes mine is being covered by warranty.

I should of been more clear...it's not covered under CPO but it is under Factory warranty or so it seems to be covered under that SB regarding the injectors. Mine was a CPO purchase...I know the GM at my dealer from school and I still couldn't get it done under CPO. Also, I have the 4.8i not the turbos you guys have.

"Trim pieces" are not covered under the CPO warranty.

It seems like a safety issue since you are basically sucking engine bay air right into the cabin. I put a little screw into mine to hold it in place until something is done to fix it.

I talked to BMW and they said said the same thing about the CPO warranty not covering it. However, if I wanted to push it I could always blame it on them since they took all that stuff off to do the service bulletin. Fact is, I don't really know if it was like that before.

I'm probably going to remove it and reinforce it with Alclad aluminum while I'm at work some night.
