30i Engine Vibration at Idle

I just don't know what to expect from a 2009 E70 30i - it isn't glass-smooth at idle in drive, there's some buzzing or light vibration felt in the body structure and steering wheel. It's a lot less noticeable when put into neutral, and goes away once the throttle is tipped in and you accelerate. Not harsh, random vibration like a miss, but more of a buzzing sensation. Sometimes some underhood panels set up a sympathetic resonance as well.

If some of you owners could comment, it would be appreciated.

I am currently experiencing the same vibration, and occasionally experience a very rough idle for a moment or two, when placed in gear the X5 actually lunges forward

Same Thing on mine. Was gonna start with plugs..&..running some injector cleaner through it.

Same here on an '08. Mostly in the dash of course and most noticeable when I pull up to the first light leaving home. I'll have to take care to notice if it's just when the engine is cold.

No rough idle or lurches here.

Good point about injector cleaner. Being a used car I have no idea if this was ever done.
On all my other vehicles for years I have used the appropirate amount of Chevron FI or fuel system cleaner every 10K miles.

Well that seemed to do it plus running some Shell gas certainly helped as well...Granted I only got 200 miles out of that tank of gas but everything seemed to improve dramatically. Gas mileage has resumed to its usual 25-28 HWY and the engine is as smooth as silk.

When you hook up a BMW computer and look at valve timing, air/fuel adaptations, ignition advance, etc, etc, what do you see??

Otherwise it is like superstitious natives sacrificing virgins. IMO

I've used Techron a few times including right before my last oil change (used that tank of gas then did the change) in January and I still have the idle vibration. No big difference in engine performance either.

Also wanted to clarify, it happens even when the engine is warm.

My husband actually commented on how the rough idle disappeared after a $15 can of fuel injector cleaner and a $35 fill up of shell 94 octane. Rough idle gone today.

I just drove 2 other 30i vehicles and they do the same thing. I guess that is the way they are.
