Why must it be replaced? The part number depends on the options of the car to be programmed/coded.

Part is about $120 and you can use realoem.com to look it up.

Is it the press function that does not work?

LivaditisD 02-19-2015 05:40 PM

I can turn the knob right or left but to select the item wont work
I also called realoem.com and its 240
is there any other recommendations??

I have the same problem. How did you get the idrive out to clean the contacts?

LivaditisD 02-19-2015 07:39 PM

just disassembled it got a can of compressed air cleaned it out and that was it

beemer606 02-20-2015 07:37 AM

How does it come out? Do you just pull up on the idrive knob to gain access to the controller?

I have the same problem getting to the controller. Pulling knob isn't much help. How do you get it out of the console?

70Sixter 04-10-2015 06:20 PM

Part is $284 on Pelican. Diagram is not helpful for install.

You have to pull the knob real hard, don't afraid it won't break. Once the knob is removed you have to pop the trimming surrounding the module. It's held on by clips. If you do a search there's a prior post with information where to get a used idrive control for $75. I already tried cleaning and even took it apart. Save yourself the trouble and order a use one that's exactly what i did after attempting to fix it. Got it to work for like a few days but it'll start to fail.
