Your opinions on “Must have” options.

Hello.

Newbie here and still researching for that perfect F15 to purchase.

For you all.... what options do you consider are a “must?”
I live in the northeast and wonder is the CWP would be something
That would cross off otherwise good examples if they didn’t include it?
Just wanted to know what other options I would look out for?

CWP is a great option. But a lot depends on your personal circumstances and preferences. I prefer sport seats, upgraded steering wheel, black headliner. But some/most don't seem much fussed by some of this. Enjoy the hunt!

Having driven a CWP equipped vehicle in the PRoCT for four years before moving and driving it for another twelve years I would not drive another BMW without it. Full heated options and headlight washers make life a little easier. When I was looking last year for a F15 I also added LED headlights to my must have options list. Then came the exterior/interior color choices and seat package options.
It was also a must have for my wife's E70 when we were looking for that three years ago.

I too love sports seats especially if they have the leg extension. What does the CWL add to the standard equipment?

CWP: Heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats and headlight washers.
I have Sports Seats in the M Sport which are nice but my wife has the Comfort Seats in her '13. Those are wonderful.

Ok so the CWP just adds heated steering wheels, rear seat heater and pop up headlight washers? Ok not a deal breaker for me.

Correct. But those things are pretty nice to have. Especially in the north east. The one we just bought didn't have cwp and we wish it did. But it had a lot of other things that made up for it.

I'm on my phone but my wife and I just went through looking for "the one." Took us a year. I'll upload the complete f15 options list pdf when I'm in front of the computer. It tells you what each package contains and also the individual option numbers. Very useful when used in combination with a vin decoder for shopping. These things could be optioned VERY heavily (night vision was an option). An average one sold for around ~$65k, good options~ $75k, and heavily optioned were $85k up to almost $100k.

Everyone will have their own preferences. But my wife and I want as many options as possible. Our checklist goes, 1 options, 2 condition, 3 price, and then 4 miles. Everyone shops differently. That's our process. We've found highly optioned cars in good condition are easier to sell on when the time comes as well. However, YMMV. Full disclaimer, I can do most of the work on a BMW myself. Makes it easier to push mileage further down the totem pole compared to options.

Thanks. That would help tremendously. I too am used to working on BMWs myself and know how to get OEM parts cheaper. My last car was a abused and neglected e46 with a Christmas lights dashboard. Took a little while but got it running perfectly.

Here's the PDF. Some of the options are unicorn stuff, but worth knowing about. The one we found MSRP'd for ~$85000 (we found the window sticker in the manual pouch) and took a long time to find. Most of the ones out there will be in the $65-75k range original sticker.

Our MUST haves were:

Any color but black
Nappa leather dash/seats/console
HUD
Comfort seats front + rear
Seat heating front
Sports package steering wheel and suspension (we got adaptive + dynamic in place of this)
backup cam + surround view
4 zone climate

We ended up getting all that plus more. We sacrificed the CWP which we REALLY wanted because of all the other stuff. Aside from CWP we wished it had the rear roller shades but someone put good tint on it so we also forgave that.

Good luck on your search. Hold out for one that has what you want and is in good condition.

Trying to think back, some of my must haves were:
Head's Up Display
Top View Parking Cam
Full Size Spare (I get rid of RFTs right away)
Cold Weather Package (front & rear)
