Services on X at 41k miles
 

Just received a phone call about some services my X needs. Took it in for an oil leak and oil service. They found the leak where the oil sensors is so there covering that under warranty. They also want me to change sparks plugs, front and rear differential oils, transfer case fluid and circulating air micro filter.

I guess my question is do I need sparks plugs with 40k miles. They stated every 3rd oil change! Fluid changes all around?

Probably don't need plugs, every 3rd oil change is laughable. They'll usually go at least 80k, most to 100k. Rest of that stuff is good preventative maint.@ 41k but they're going to cost $$$ at the dealer.

Diff fluid and TC fluid should be good for 100,000 miles. Plugs as well as long as you're running good fuel and no additional additives. Cabin filter though depends on your geography. Oak and mountain cedar pollen shortens the life of any cabin filter here in Texas.

Where do those service intervals come from?

Those were in my E53 manual. The synthetics last longer. And you'll know they're synthetic when you see the price per liter!
