Anyone have a DIY for F15 oil pan gasket?

2016 X5 SDrive 35i MSport

Because I have a screw loose, I'm considering replacing the entire pan (drain hole stripped, I oversized but it is still leaking).

What I'm trying to figure out is the procedure to drop the subframe to get to it. New bolts, new pan (OE), and new gasket. Probably need an oil level sensor o-ring too?

Sorry, no DIY. At least you have an Sdrive though... should be relatively straight forward. Support engine from above, loosen engine mounts, pull steering shaft from rack, loosen subframe bolts, and then do the pan. I'd try and support the subframe in situ... and maybe you'll be really lucky and have enough room without completely removing the subframe bolts. But I'm not sure, haven't done the job.

Might as well do engine mounts while you're in there.

Do you have access to TIS? Don't know what BMW charges for it, but might be worth signing up for it and printing off what you need for the job.

Hey thanks for this! And the illustration below! Might go look for some engine support bars at Harbor Freight.

Where did you find that? BMWTIS?

EXCELLENT step by step on an F10. I've been peeking under the car and looks extremely close to the same. Seriously thinking more about doing this myself. Less than $1300 for parts including the mounts (before tax). I've done so much BMW engine work, but never underneath.

Well, it's done. No leaks so far. Ran it around town for about an hour last night and put it in the garage. Checked the floor this morning and dry (not used to seeing a BMW NOT leak oil).

Serious PITA doing the work, especially alone. But hey.... I saved almost $1900 doing it myself.

Now for the next challenge..... pulling the fender to fix the windshield washer leak. :banghead:
