Best time to buy
The wife and I are sold on the new X5. We bought the E53 brand new and still love it. Waiting on the release of this F15 model as the previous version was one we decided to skip. So assuming it comes out in the next couple of months, is there any chance that Christmas may present some good rebates? We bought the A6 during Chrsitmas of 2012 and got a great deal. The wife is skeptical about a similar deal on a new BMW so close after release...and the old saying of an SUV during the winter. She thinks maybe next summer...July 4th may be a better time. Is there something between those times that would be better to buy a new X5? Thoughts!?!

Have you considered the risk of buying an early production model of a new series? Many of us wait for the second year so they have a chance to resolve some of the issues that weren't sorted prior to start of production.
If you do want a first year model, rebates and discounts will vary on the market, ie production capacity vs market demand at any point in time. Calendar year end may prompt some sales, but so can the slow period in Jan-Mar when everyone is paying Christmas bills and not buying new cars. Very hard to predict. |
From what I've heard (from a reliable source) they aren't really going to be out in production in any kind of numbers till Christmas.
With that said, I'm thinking that by about this time next year, we'll see the 2015 with any tweaks, improvements etc... although from what I've seen of the new 2014, I think the underpinnings are going to be very similar to the 2013 (E70). There will be new things such as LED headlights and fog lights as well as the new iDrive control. |

That being said, we are sold on it, and it makes sense in our life...not sure waiting a year for them to work out bugs I have yet to hear about makes sense. If it comes out and is a completely disaster...then maybe it makes sense. |
I was disappointed with my 2007 E70. It was built in the third month of production. I subsequently leased a 2011 and it was a tremendous improvement in build and ride quality.
This Is why I just did a 30 month lease on a 2013 E70. When this lease is up I will go into an F15 |
I think that as it has been posted above it is best to wait for the second year of production
